However, following their 5th minute penalty concession, Utd should've had Vidic sent off, and Villa might have had a chance. Firstly, the foul on the player impeding a scoring chance (no red card, not even a yellow) was followed by another foul on a Villa player by a different Man Utd player (again, no yellow card). The first bookings of the game were against Villa players, firstly Collins and then Petrov, for fouls equal to or less than the severity of the Man Utd ones...

Either Referee Dowd didn't want to feel the backlash of Ferguson's tongue or simply the laws of the game never apply to Sir Alex do they? No not sour grapes, just a statement of fact.
